About Me
My name is Megan T. Carlson, and I am a strengths-based therapist who loves working with children and families. I specialize in working with young children and their primary caregivers. Parent-Child attachment is my passion! I have been working with children and parents for the past 11 years, 6 of which has been focusing on school/home based treatment as an elementary counselor. My theoretical orientation is rooted in Experiential Play Therapy, Parent-Child Interaction Therapy, and Brief Solution Focused Therapy. By using a child directed approach with parents, children are able to form close and secure relationships with others, understand and manage their feelings, and feel safe to learn and explore.
I am an LPCC (Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor) and an NCC (Nationally Certified Counselor). I graduated from Webster University in 2010 with a Master's degree in Counseling. Prior to that, I attended University of New Mexico and received my Bachelor's degree in Psychology. Additionally, I am a member of the New Mexico Association of Infant Mental Health (NMAIMH). I have adored working with children as a counselor; it is truly my passion to help parents bond with their children!
I am a happily married wife, and mom to 3 wonderful children! My family lights up my life.
